Senator Edward M. Youngblood was re-elected to the Maine Senate on November 6, 2012 to represent Senate District 31 after an eight-year absence. Senator Youngblood previously served in the Senate during the 120th and 121st Legislatures. He represents the Penobscot communities of Bradley, Brewer, Burlington, Clifton, Eddington, Grand Falls Plantation, Greenfield, Holden, Lowell, Milford, Orrington, and Summit Township, and the Hancock communities of Amherst, Aurora, Bucksport, Castine, Dedham, Mariaville, Orland, Otis, Penobscot, and Verona Island
- Senator Youngblood is a member of the Energy, Utilities and Technology Committee and the Government Oversight Committee. Senator Youngblood has significant ties to the Government Oversight Committee, having co-authored and pushed for the passage of legislation that led to the creation of the Office of Program Evaluation and Government Accountability (OPEGA) when he served in the Senate previously. Senator Youngblood attended Milo High School and received a B.S. degree from Husson University. He also graduated from National School of Savings Banking – Fairfield University in Fairfield Connecticut.
Senator Youngblood spent 10 years as a Brewer High School District Trustee. He also served two terms as a Commissioner on the Commission on Governmental Ethics and Election Practices.
Senator Youngblood served as Senior Vice President of Bangor Savings Bank, where is worked for 30 years. Within the community, he is involved with Phillips-Strickland House (Board of Directors), Kahtadin Council Inc. Boy Scouts of America (Board of Directors, past treasurer), Friends of Fort Knox (past Board of Directors), Bangor Regional Chamber of Commerce (Board of Directors, past president), United Way of Eastern Maine (past Board of Directors), Brewer Economic Development Corp. (Board of Directors, past president), Eastern Maine Health System (corporator), and Bangor Savings Bank (corporator).
Senator Youngblood and his wife, Margaret, live in Brewer.
